Tuesday: Jamaica is elect + Spiritual growth mother
Woke Up and we went ham at the gym. Did a little 10 minute high incline walk, 5 minute run, 5 minute elliptical madness.
Got home and cleaned the whole house. Swept, mopped, scrubbed the whole house, showered and started personal study.
Oddly awake for my studies. I prepared for another district council training.
A maintenance guy finally came to fix our hole in the wall of my bathroom! Yayy. He was a gem.
We went to the church and did contacting.
Got a call from Reatha. She is a literal gem, but had a Lil word of wisdom slip up so we have to move her baptism date back.
Satan works hard. We then headed to a lesson with the Nepali Elders.
Well they were 30 minutes late so we did more contacting and social media.
We then knocked on the house and called her. She was about 10 minutes away so we went back to the car
finished social media and then boom back to her. KENDAL WAS A WHOLE DAUGHTER OF GOD.
She doesn't know the Bible and hasn't been to church for a very long time. She has a huge desire to learn more.
The elders were so awkward it was fun to watch. Co Teaching is my least favorite, but this was a pass off lesson.
We're very excited to start teaching her. We did a Lil restoration lesson and she loved it.
She is a sponge, just soaking it all in. After, we did some stop bys. Went to see our sweet Wendy who is a real queen.
We did a Lil doorstep teaching again because she burst her eardrum leading to her being unable to speak for long.
She was so excited we came. Had a delicious lunch filled with pancakes, eggs and toast, and bacon.
Absolutely devoured it. About 30 minutes later I ate some cereal. Mhm and I wonder why I've gained weight
on the mission. The munchies out here are real. A basher called us and it wasn't very fun.
Oym to a guy on a porch- he's from Jamaica his name is Orlando. He had heard a little bit about the church
and he said there's tons of members where he is from. We taught him the restoration and gave him the Book of Mormon!
Went to a member's house for her kids birthday so tender. Julinda was turning 16 and wanted us to come over for her
birthday. How tender is that?? We knocked into a really angry atheist and it made me so sad.
She was so angry over all the things in her life that she believes there's no God.
I really wanted to try and just bare a small testimony, but she was not having it. Maybe one day.
We did some fun sniping(yelling out the car) ended the night with a new acai bowl.
My new addiction. Something about cold honey, jam, and peanut butter on a smoothie is delicious.
♡The coolest miracle is I'm teaching a guy from Kenya and he calls me his spiritual growth mother
and he is a teacher for orphan kids about ya know a hundred and is teaching them all about the Book of Mormon.
If that doesn't make you cry I don't know what will.
Wednesday: Where Do we even find?
Comfortable in the uncomfortable
Couldn't even tell ya, had district council it was good, gave yet again another training.
My compy queen had a call so I ended up teaching Brother and Sister Perry by myself which a few months ago
would have thrown me into cardiac arrest, but now I eat it up. I Love teaching. It brings me so much joy.
We talked a lot about being comfortable with being uncomfortable and in the uncomfortable.
Whether that be situations, opportunities of growth, over coming fears, you must push yourself.
Change is never comfortable, but you need to get comfortable with it. We could not figure out where to knock today.
It was a real struggle everywhere we went. The elders had just gone a few days earlier.
We had a wonderful lesson with Tammy and invited her to be baptized! She said yes ahhhhh.
A whole queen woman. Then we met with an inactive member. She's the only member in her whole family
and has a husband and kids. She was so kind and we were excited to do some work there.
We found a guy named Leon and taught him the restoration outside. His uncle is a member!
Thursday: Literally talk to everyone + sun
Today was such an amazing day. Woke up so zonked but ended up having an amazing personal study.
After we went to the church for social media and comp study and the Nepali Elders were there. Ugh, so we couldn't
be in the church with them. Well they brought us out chairs and put them in the shade for us,
and then filled up my water bottle. Our little servants. We toasted our arms and legs while we did our little work
outside. It was honestly so nice. After we went to chick fil a because Sister Jacobson had gift cards and is
basically my sugar mommy at this point. Inhaled the new lemonade they have, absolutely delicious.
We zoomed on over to our next lesson that the Spanish Elders had set up. We get there and realized there's
no apartment number and we had a member come. So we called the Elders and they didn't know,
so we went on a knocking journey. Well the Lord is amazing and we found Bobani!!! She was leaving for work
but was such a gem. It was so fun knocking with a returned missionary.
We then went to Reatha’s and she canceled on us so we went absolutely ham knocking.
We shredded some streets and apartments and had some really cool celestial contacts.
We met a guy named Benji who just moved here because his wife passed away.
Had a fantastic conversation with him. We then proceeded to talk to so many others. All very memorable.
We absolutely soaked up the sun And laughed the whole time while we knocked. If you know me,
I randomly “Sing” all the time. It's like constant nonsense from my mouth. Hard to describe if you've never
experienced it, but I did that probably the whole day. Anywho we got going to our next lesson that was crazy.
Lots of chaos so we had to reschedule. So we popped on over to Mike, Michele, and Rodney's early.
We had a really good lesson and Mike honestly was a whole new person. Couldn't believe it,
but I was nervous about his baptism but now I feel so at peace. Beautiful beautiful- the gospel truly changes
people and brings so much joy into their lives. It is the missing piece to so many people's puzzles of life.
We had our bom study and it was absolutely revelatory. We had some really good discussions on waiting on the Lord.
The spirit was powerful.
♡
After we went knocking and found a guy who just got out of incarceration and we taught him a bit of the Restoration.
He really liked it. Forgot to mention I got my first soda in over a week!!
I spiced it up with some Caramel and French vanilla syrup. It brought me to life.
A whole new creature. Ended the night with a good call from an inactive member who said we were an answer
to her prayers. We had texted her and she has been away for months and couldn't decide what to do.
After our text she ran into the Nepali Sisters. Mhm God will not let you go I tell ya. We set up a lesson with her!!!
Friday: John Johnson + Bev Bev
Got no sleep last night and woke up to my stomach pain and stayed awake. After planning I laid back down and
said I can't possibly workout. Had an absolutely revelatory personal study though! I could write a novel off of one
chapter. After we had Our Friday morning training mixed in with some contacting because right after we had only
time to do 30 minutes of weekly planning and then had to run to a lesson. Well our lesson was one to remember.
It was not our best work but the spirit was outstanding. Beverly had some good ol tears and just soaked it all up.
What an incredible reminder that this truly is the Lord's work. After we got a drink and headed to Kent State
to meet up for the John Johnson farm. It was so incredible. The spirit there is very tender.
As we talked about Joseph Smith being tarred and feathered I couldn't keep the tears back. It'll get ya good.
Then something about that translating room got me good as well. Joseph Smith found out he would endure
many trials and tribulations in Hiram, but he did not back down…. why? Because he knew without a doubt it was the
truth. He would go on to die for the truth. I am feeling as bold as to tell all of you reading this. Pull yourself together
and get on your knees and pray about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. You can not tell me your answer is a
no. You can not tell me that Joseph put his entire family and himself in danger for a made up lie. Joseph had so
many chances to deny the truth to set him and his family free, if it was all a tale he would have.
No one would die for a lie.
After the tour we went to the church to see if we had a baptism suit for Mike… we did not.
So we called around and found one. We'd have to go drive and get In the morning.
We had an awkward phone call lesson. A great member lesson followed with another great member lesson.
2 Nephi 9 is absolutely revelatory. Again I could write another novel on this chapter.
Saturday: Ripped pants + Baptism + text invitations
So this is a day you want to read. Started off with waking up absolutely good. Running to Akron for Mike's baptism Suit.
Coming home switching for training visits. Absolutely eating up Sister Burtenshaw once again.
Had an absolutely profound personal study. Loving life. We went to Wendy's for our contacting and comp study.
It's revelatory there. After we got Chipotle my favorite drinky drink and headed to Jeanettes.
We taught her the plan of salvation and she cried. Oh ya know the Spirit. Then she said she's never felt this with
any other religion and said she thinks she's finally found the truth. We invited her to be baptized and she's praying
about it. She doesn't feel ready but this queen is. We then zoomed to Mike's baptism. We pull up and there's a lady
there that I recognize, but can't name from where. Well I sit and ponder and have a heart attack. It's the pastor's wife
from last week. Apparently she pulls up and says i'm here for the truth….. so that might be the coolest experience
ever. Anywho we had the Elders fill the font cuz we were running way late. The Sisters printed off his program.
Everything worked out. It started way late due to our pianist and a few other things. It turned out very interesting.
None of Mike's family came to support Him. Made me soooo sad. BUT nonetheless he did it and he came an hour
early. How precious is that. Well I got a Lil sick mid baptism not good. Some things went down while I was absent,
but we must dwell on the positives. After we went to CVS to pick up some pills and while i get in the car I rip my pants
from my butt on forward mhm. Yes. Humbling to say the least. If that doesn't scream go on a diet I don't know what
does. Anywho after I changed we grinded some knocking and got so much rejection and no answers, then we oym to
some men and get a text saying can I be baptized from one of them??? Like como??? Now, Hold on.
Someone else me and Sis Jacobson oym to last week texted and said they wanted to be baptized as well….. like fr???
Then get this, we oym to a girl at a dumpster and she had literally just got done praying from her apartment and
then boom we show up AND apparently she met with missionaries over a year ago. God Is so good.
Voice messaged Desiree very boldy about baptism and invited her to pray about it once again.
We finished up the day and ran two miles and then lifted weights. Sooooo needed and honestly felt so good.
Oh and when I say ran two miles I mean jogged, walked, and sprinted. Ya know the out of shape queen over here
can't do a 2 mile run.
Sunday: more baptism
okay okay work up so dead the usual. Church was very interesting. The most important things from today is
A. Desiree texted: I prayed about it and I'm ready to be baptized. I know it'll be hard to prepare but I can do it
About threw up!
B. Some RM in the singles ward brought two cute girls to church for the first time and we had a good Lil chat.
C. Best part… We had a great lesson with Beverley about plan of salvation, and yes there were tears from all
three of us. She is like our biggest gem. I'm not sure what it is about her yet, but there's something very unique
about her. She's meant to learn and accept it right now.
